Born from a walk, built with passion.
It all started during a simple walk.
With a lot of love for our home country, Brazil, and deep gratitude for the city that welcomed us, Toronto, we felt a strong desire to bring both worlds together in something special. After many ideas, name combinations, and even some random numbers, Lucas had a simple thought: Why not join Brazil and Toronto into one word? And that’s how Brato was born BRAzil + TOronto. Curious about the name, Juliano decided to look it up. To our surprise, in Old German, “Brato” means “a piece of meat.” It couldn’t be more perfect for what we were creating.
The Real Spirit of Brazilian BBQ
Many people think Brazilian BBQ is something fancy and expensive.
But the truth is much simpler.
In Brazil, barbecue is about moments. It’s about people getting together, lighting a small fire, and sharing good food and good conversation.
While big Brazilian steakhouse restaurants are famous around
the world, they are not the everyday reality for most people in Brazil.
The most common and loved way to enjoy barbecue there is meat sticks, simple skewers cooked over the grill.
They’re affordable, easy to make, and incredibly popular. You’ll find them everywhere: at street stands, family gatherings, small parties, and local festivals.
